Subject: Resuming Family Visits Congregate Living Settings (OCL Residences)

On April 23, 2020 the Ontario Government released its COVID-19 Action Plan for Vulnerable People. The Action Plan included limiting non-essential visitors in congregate living settings as an important step to reduce exposure to and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

OCL’s COVID-19 response has been under the Directives of the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS) for congregate living settings, as well as Ottawa Public Health (OPH).

OCL received official notification on Friday, June 12 that as of Thursday, June 18, 2020 visits with families in outdoor spaces may resume under specific guidelines. Please note at this time, as per MCCSS guidelines and OPH direction, no visits will be held within OCL homes.

OCL is developing the necessary protocols to meet the criteria as set out by MCCSS but at this time we do not have a firm date when visits will begin at OCL homes.

We understand how difficult these last few months have been for our individuals, their families and caregivers, and our staff and we pledge to work as quickly as possible to resume family visits while keeping our priority: the safety and health of everyone.

Shortly, we will be sending you all the information you’ll need to safely visit your loved one.

We appreciate your patience as our dedicated staff work to develop and establish the protocols necessary to meet the criteria as set out by MCCSS and OPH for the resumption of family visits.

Stay safe and be healthy!

Jocelyne Paul
Executive Director
