History

Ottawa-Carleton Lifeskills Inc. (OCL) was incorporated on December 6, 1985 as a non-profit agency to provide community living opportunities for developmentally disabled adults moving back to the Ottawa-Carleton region from provincial institutions. Since that time OCL has grown dramatically in size from one small rented group home to today, operating with a budget of over $7M. We presently provide high quality services to 88 participants in our day program, 55 residents in 8 group homes, 19 individuals in a supported independent living program and 29 residents in our home sharing program.

Ottawa-Carleton Lifeskills Inc. is directed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Our Board brings many years of business and non-profit experience to their monthly meetings. Ottawa-Carleton Lifeskills Inc. also benefits from a strong senior management team consisting of an Executive Director and five Unit Directors, three in Program Management, one in Finance and one in Human Resources, plus nine Supervisors. Together they possess over 140 years of management experience.

Many of our direct care staff have been with us well over five years providing consistent care and services to the developmentally disabled individuals we serve.
