Working at OCL |
|
Ottawa-Carleton Lifeskills (OCL) employs full time, part time and casual staff and recruits for positions of Residential Counsellor/Lifeskills Instructor,
Home Sharing as well as a small number of administrative and management positions. We have a promote-from-within policy and many of our management team have moved up through the ranks.
Employees work with a broad spectrum of individuals ranging from those who have some degree of independence to those who require a higher degree of care.
Residential Counsellors/Lifeskills Instructors are hired for all programs within OCL and are not limited to working at their home base only. This provides them
with the opportunity to work in all areas, to gain experience within the full spectrum of services provided by OCL and to further their career goals within OCL. For students who wish to “earn as they learn”, there are positions and school placements available while their formal education is being completed.
To support the staff and the individuals we serve, we provide training in:
First Aid/CPR - Crisis Training - Lifts and Transfers - Health & Safety
Medication - Behaviour Management - Diabetes - Management training
OCL encourages participation from all employees. New ideas and valuable input to improve services are always welcomed by management.
